The leaf contains the text of Matthew 14, 22-31. This fragment belonged to the Purple Codex N [= Codex Purpureus Petropolitanus], which is now in the State Library of Saint Petersburg (grec. 537). The few purple codices which have survived until now are dated to the 6th century and contain books from the Bible. The text is written in silver and gold on pages stained purple. As exceptionally de-luxe manuscripts, they may have been intended for bibliophiles in imperial circles.
