The icon depicts the Dormition of the Virgin including the episode of the Iefonias, the Jew who tried to touch her dead body. In the upper part is depicted the Assumption of the Virgin ("Metastasis") including the episode of the donation of her belt to the Apostle Thomas. The work bears the date 1679 and also the signature of Elias Moskos, a painter whose family originated from the Cretan town of Rethymnon and had fled in the Ionian island of Zakynthos.
