Virgin from a depiction of Deesis i.e. the intercession by the two people closest to Christ, the Virgin and St John the Baptist for the salvation of mankind. The wall-painting has been detached from the conch of the north aisle of the twin church of Hagios Georgios and Nikolaos in Lathrino, Naxos Island. The Deesis’ depiction, a commonplace in Byzantine art, is often found in the churches on Naxos.
